CORNHOLE THROW

Equipment
- Boards: Two angled boards, each 2 feet wide and 4 feet long, with a 6-inch hole located 9 inches from the top edge.
- Distance: The boards are placed 27 feet apart from each other (measured front to front).
- Bags: Each player/team has four bags, typically filled with corn kernels or synthetic beads. Bags are about 6 inches square and weigh 1 pound each.
Basic Setup and Turns
- Teams: Cornhole can be played as singles (1 vs. 1) or doubles (2 vs. 2).
- Pitching Area: Players must throw from behind the front edge of their board, within a designated pitching box.
- Turns: Players alternate throws until all 8 bags have been thrown for that round, known as an “inning.”
Scoring
- In the Hole: A bag that goes through the hole scores 3 points.
- On the Board: A bag that lands and stays on the board (without touching the ground) scores 1 point.
- Foul Bags: A bag that touches the ground before landing on the board, or that is thrown from outside the pitching area, scores 0 points and should be removed from the board if it lands on it.
Point Cancellation
- Cornhole scoring uses a “cancellation” method:
- At the end of each inning, both teams’ scores are calculated, and the lower score is subtracted from the higher score.
- Only the higher-scoring team earns points for that inning. For example, if Team A scores 7 points and Team B scores 5 points, Team A receives 2 points for that inning.
Winning the Game
- Winning Score: A standard Cornhole game is played to 21 points. However, some games require a team to reach exactly 21 points to win.
- Tiebreaker: If both teams reach or exceed 21 in the same inning, a tiebreaker inning may be played to determine the winner.
Additional Rules
- Bag Movement: A bag that falls into the hole due to another bag knocking it in still counts for 3 points.
- Interference: Players should not distract or interfere with the opposing player during their turn.
Cornhole is a simple yet fun game that combines accuracy and strategy. The cancellation scoring makes it competitive, as players can nullify their opponents’ scores by matching their placements.
