The original is located along The Links, near to the final hole of the legendary Old Course of the home of golf – St. Andrews in Scotland. Visitors can find this “weather station” smack in front of the balcony of the Russack Hotel where guests enjoy a ring-side view of the finish of all those major golfing competitions. That clear sight of the infamous valley of sin guarding the 18th green can be quite memorable.
We can’t vouch for the accuracy or the technology behind its forecasting function, but approached with an open mind, a dry sense of humour and perhaps a wee dram of fine single malt, the weather station’s rock may tell us something meaningful, albeit not necessarily about the weather.
